A Work In Progress, by Rocky Rochford releases August 1st 2017

Synopsis:

A Work in Progress: The Life of a Disgraced Author

Snider was on the way to having it all—family, success and a movie deal. Then his parents died and he was never the same again. Fast forward a few years and Snider is a man who takes pride in punishing himself, forcing himself to live in squalor, as his sister lives it up in a luxurious apartment and enjoys the London nightlife.

With no drive and no ambition to take himself out of the rut he resides in, things are soon to change as the disgraced author will be forced to do things he swore never to do, whilst landing himself in some of craziest antics that are both comical and highly sexual.

A word from the Author:

Having lived by the coast my entire life, I am a water boy through and through who loves to scuba dive, wake-board and photographing animals in their underwater environment. As a writer, I am a self-proclaimed student of everyone and master of nothing, devoted to sharpening and challenging my skills of storytelling whenever possible, stories such as London Calling, Wait and Bleed and the Rise of the Elohim Chronicles. Every read of one of my typed works, is another trip into the imagination of my mixed up, crazed and deranged mind. Welcome to the World of Rochford

Other Works by Rochford:

London Calling: (Espionage Thriller)

England, a nation under attack. The Prime Minister has been kidnapped, the Deputy PM murdered and MI6, the epitome of Intelligence, is descending into chaos. With moles leaking state secrets, M16—and the country—are being destroyed from within. All the tinder needs now is a match—and London will surely burn.

Wait and Bleed: (Horror)

First he will kill you when you are home alone and eat your chocolate cake, then he’ll slaughter your family as you sleep and even then he is just getting started. A psychopathic murderer is bad enough, worse still when they lose all sanity and desire nothing more than to build a body count higher than Everest as he drags you along with him for the ride, but sometimes even the Hunter becomes the Hunted. With the promise of death at every turn Jack wants to play a game, will you play with him?

Rise of the Elohim: The Eye of Mares: (Illustrated YA Fantasy)

Nearly four years have past since Zach drew blade against the Shanzi Shimay and now the time has come for him to draw his sword once more. The Realm of Mares has fallen victim to invasion as three terrifying beasts of darkness, seek to destroy the world around them, as they await the inevitable arrival of their King.

With dark times ahead, the numbers of the Watchers on Iris has grown, as Zach is joined by seven fellow students, all too eager to prove their worth. It’s not long before the students are put to the test facing off against the Nein Navy and uncover a dark secret.

The stage is set and the Battle for Mares is under-way.

Scars & Souvenirs: (Collection of Emotional Thrillers)

Every scar tells a story, tales of loss, tales of regret. The scars on my arms an echo of when times were hard. The scars on my eyes of the dreaded horrors I can never unsee. The scars on my soul, a lasting memory of the sins that tore my soul apart. The scars on my heart caused from a love forever lost. And the scars on both my wrists, the end result of a failed attempt to end a life of woe. Some scars should never be open, but mine are and they refuse to heal.

More from Rocky Rochford on his upcoming release, A Work in Progress.

****Dont forget to mark your calendars so you dont miss out on this fantastic authors newest work.*****

Hi there, I’m Rocky Rochford. Author of Wait and Bleed, London Calling, Scars and Souvenirs and the writer behind the fantasy series of The Rise of the Elohim Chronicles, which Ashleigh Longman illustrates.

Today however, I would like to tell you about my latest and greatest work. I know that comes across as being a bit braggy and oh so vainglorious, but A Work in Progress is a whole different ballgame compared to my previous works. Sure every protagonist I write is flawed, thoughtful and even philosophical in their own way, but Sam Snider is all that and more for he is truly alive.

Every page of his story and yes it is his story, just reeks of live as he is so much more that words on the page. Snider is living possibility himself. He is the person we did not become, but the person, the voice that exists inside us all that calls out when we’re alone in the dark, afraid of life and sad. But I’ve said all that and I have yet to talk about the book, so let’s correct that. Only because Snider is so real and opinionated as you will find out should you read the book.

This is A Work in Progress.

On August 1st it will release on a varied number of websites. It will be available in digital and physical form and while it does have some similarities to other boos and TV shows previously seen, the characters who drive the story are anything but normal. They’re raw. In pain and their life is a bizarre one, especially that of the titular character Sam Snider, a work in progress on the path to redemption in a story that will make you laugh, gasp, cry and even get a little too hot under the colour.

If you want classic British put downs, A Work in Progress has it.

If you want a protagonist who takes no shit from anyone and speaks whatever comes to his minds first, A Work in Progress has it!

It also has a wide array of erotic scenes, a romance story that plays a huge role and so much humour that there are times you will not be able help but piss yourself with laughter.

Its title may be A Work in Progress, but this work is my Masterpiece and soon, the whole world can read it!

Thanks! (Rocky Rochford)

The People Behind the Indie Authors/ Indie Services Providers

Hello one and all. Today I bring you the people behind the Indie authors. The illustrators, cover artists, formatters, publishers, editors and more.

While the story line and plot itself are the sole work of the authors there is much to be said for those that make it all possible for us. I’ve met many great indie service providers since launching my writing career and would be remiss if I didn’t spotlight some of them here for the world to see and know. While this isn’t a full listing of providers it’s still covers quite a few that were kind enough to provide me with their info and links to share here with you.

Before you go on to check out this awesome list of great and talented folks, I would like to say

Thank you to all of you. Your services are important to Indie authors and without you some of us may be left hanging in the wind with no idea of what to do after the story is written.

“””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””””

First on my list is the very sweet, word guru,  professional,  personable and reasonably priced Jenelle Roxie Marshall a fine editor and owner/operator of the wonderfully named business,  The Art Of Syntax, LLC.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jenelle. She edited my very first work, The Orchid Keeper novella. She has since gone on to edit other indie authors works and it has been said she is delightful to work with. She’s adept at what she does, and remains respectful and mindful of the creative minds of her clients. She fully understands how important our works are to us ( She is an author of some very fine poetry and musings herself!), and she provides her services with that in mind. If your looking for a thorough editor with a massive knowledge of words, synonyms, grammer and puncuation then I suggest you contact The Art of Syntax. Competitive pricing, and detailed feedback with her edits. Also, she has great skill as a ghost writer. You can learn more on that part o her skills by visiting any of the links I have included.

Ps. She is an editor at heart and her editor hat is always on… And I bet she will more than likely find quite a few errors in this post 😉

Adam Mitchell  is a truly talented artist. He recently did a map for one of my books and I could not be happier with the end results. In the future I fully intend on having him sketch my book characters as well. Timely, efficient and very personable to work with. Adam has also written a couple books and has provided a few links for you to check out below.

Here’s a bit from the man himself:

I OFFER, WHERE POSSIBLE, CUSTOM HAND DRAWN ILLUSTRATIONS . TOTALLY CUSTOM MAPS AND OTHER CARTOGRAPHIC SERVICE. ALSO AM BREAKING INTO BOOK COVERS.

I’VE ALSO RELEASED TWO NOVELS ALL OF WHICH ARE SOLD ON MY WEB PAGE .

A good cover is imperative. It’s the first thing a reader sees. Covers are like a books calling card. A successful cover can lead to initial sales. Much like when you go out to eat, those pictures of food in the menu draw you to a certain entree, dessert, refreshment etc. The face of our books are very important. It takes real, and true, talent to put together an awesome cover for our babies.

Speaking of real and true talent I bring to the table the lively Julie Nicholls cover artist extraordinaire.  My next book will have her art on its cover. I’ve seen some of her covers and I am truly impressed. She also does some pretty awesome banners.

Here’s a word and some links form Julie;

I am Julie Nicholls and I’m also known as Mirishka and JMN Art. As well as an author, I am a graphic designer and creating covers and banners is my game. All of my covers are my own creation, and some of them are digital paintings and some manipulations.

If you’re looking for a cover for your next masterpiece, be it a fantasy romance, urban fantasy, women’s fiction or any other genre, I’m your gal.

My official website hosts some of my works, you can click the link below to see them.

***(there’s a couple samples below and links to see Julies full art resume.) ***

I thought you’d like to see one of my own personal favorites. This is for my latest novel, Dragon Moon. It started out as a pre made cover that I posted on my site at a reduced rate, but when I had the idea for a new novel, I decided I should keep it. It started out on the left and finished as my own cover.

I’m easy going, will work with you to find the best possible cover for your novel, and my rates are extremely competitive.

Anika /Raven Blackburn is an artist and an author from the country of Germany. Another wonderful book cover artist.  I have had the pleasure, through other authors, to see some of her covers and I must say that she certainly has talent. I have read that she is wonderful to work with and delivers, to the author, a wonderful rendition of the writers vision. Her covers relate to the books content very well. Not only is this service provider a wonderful book cover artist , she is also a pretty well established author herself.

Without the help and knowledge of an assistant the weight of it all can overwhelm an author. That is the very reason some of us hire an Author Assistant. I introduce Karina Kantas, author assistant pro.  There is nothing like having someone on your side and in your corner. Kantas not only brings what she promises to the table, she brings more.

A testimonial by J. Compton

Lynn Lamb, author of The Survivor Diaries and more, is another person who is indispensable to some authors. A true jack of all trades Lamb does just about everything; writes, assists, trailers, pomos, teasers etc. I have a trailer for my novella that she did and I am extremely happy with it. She gets deep into the emotion an author wishes to portray and  brings it to life in her trailers, banners, promos and teasers. With an education in film making Lynn brings a lot to the table and she puts it all to good use.

Here is the wonderful trailer she did for my novella:

Heres a bit from Lynn;

Bio:
When I started writing, I thought the hardest part of putting out a book would be bleeding my heart out on the page. Little did I know that, in this new world of the indie author, the real challenge would be to get seen in a swamp of millions of books published each year.

My BA in Film certainly positioned me in the book trailer arena, but I also went about perfecting “banner” making. Now, I am hoping to share my skills with those writers too busy to fuss with learning photo and video editing.

I would love to help you get your hard work presented in a professional manner. I understand tight marketing budgets and will do my best to work with you to create images that match your imagination. Stay on top of the latest book marketing tends with Book Banners Etc!

Janelle and Rob Alex ….Every authors dream team!!!!!

Rob and Janell Alex are wonderful and the vast amount of knowledge between the two of them is something they willingly share with Indie authors around the globe. The information these two share, in their groups, Live Facebook feeds etc. has helped me immensely. Both are very personable and approachable people. With them there is no dumb question and they do their very est to answer any and all questions. Our success as writers is important to them. They understand the creative process so keenly I believe because they both have gone through it all. They are both writers/authors themselves, so the advice they give and the help they offer is tried and true. They have a wonderful group called Creative Marketing for Authors and I have learned a lot in that group and the Live video feeds they do on a weekly basis.

We are on a roll.  Thegroupis growing in leaps and bounds.  Together we have created a friendly group of authors, many who I am getting to know for the first time.    We are all sharing our skills with each other, be it editing, art or even teasers fro promotion.  I have been astounded by the wonderful vibes which abound.

It goes to show even when you write ghost, horror or thiller stories you can still have a blast and enjoy the fruits of our labour.  The short stories have been amazing. Some are simple, some are scary or scary to think about – depending on how much imagination you use while reading, others are slightly gory.  All are wonderful.  I can’t wait to read the rest.

Searching For AGood Nights Sleep

Welcome to Jennterra

zzzzzzzzzzz

In my endeavors, over many years, to catch a good night’s sleep I have failed at least 80% of the time. Try as I might to get everything done, to clear my mind, to settle in and settle down nothing seems to work when insomnia hits

I have tried herbal teas, valerian, melatonin, over the counter sleep aides, yoga, meditation, sleep music, etc to no avail. No matter what it is I employ to get me to sleep, it seems as if my circadian sleep cycle forgot it is supposed to be a cycle!!! Or rather yet it has failed to even exist!

I toss, I turn, I get back up and turn on the television. I curse, I cry, I pace to and fro…still to no avail. I used to find that wine would make my mind fuzzy enough to sneak in a few Z’s here and there through-out…

Here’s a bit of a blurb from my story Jingle Jars:

Sneak Peek of Jingle Jars by Jennifer Deese (short story from The December Awethology: Dark Volume by The #Awethors.)

***

Sid could sense the arrival of something. Then suddenly he began to make out a shape approaching in the distance through the open door.  As he strained to decipher what it was that was approaching he caught the scent of sulphur and rot. The odor grew stronger as the shape in the swirling snow drew closer. Sid felt his heart quicken as his senses told him something about this was all wrong. As he watched, frozen in place, he saw that the quickly approaching figure was adorned in what looked to be a very tattered and dirty Santa Claus outfit. “What the hell!”, Sid thought as the figure stepped onto the porch and stood face to face with him. The stink was even more intense and the man’s eyes were obsidian black. Sid stepped back as the man came through the door shutting it behind him. As the door shut the noise from the jingling jars abruptly stopped.

Sid knew he was in the presence of something sinister, dark and evil, and in a rare moment of honest introspection he almost wished things had been different in his life, normal even. He watched, frozen in place as the Santa clad demon walked to the wall of jars. With his heart pounding Sid asked, “”Who are you.” Smiling demonically, the visitor ran his dirty clawed fingers along the jars, causing them to jingle eerily in the dead silence. Sid could feel the noise deep in his brain, it caused a blinding pain that brought him to his knees next to the dead fire. He felt  his body wanting to give in, wanting to shroud him in the promise of death, but he wanted to live! As the thought of asking for redemption ran across his mind the demon turned toward him and whispered, “Tssk Tssk, my loyal human, I’m here to show to you your jars, your jingling jars.” ***
